This is my new cat Misha with Shelly. Misha is blind and was in a local shelter for over a year so on Christmas Eve I decided I’d take her home.

She looks cute! How does she get around the house, lots of whiskers brushing on things?

Yeah she’s pretty fearless. She learns the general layout pretty quick and jumps on and off of stuff without any trouble, but she takes her time getting places. It doesn’t help that I’m a slob and leave shoes all over the place.

we stayed with some friends who had a blind dog. He did really well getting around. It’s always amazing to see animals adapt like they do.
They said a full speed in to the wall run happens once a month or so, mostly when playing with the other dog.

You’re a good person to adopt her. She’s a pretty cat.

Also, PICK UP YOUR SHOES!!

Misha is a very pretty cat! Thank you so much for adopting her and giving her a warm, welcoming home full of lots of other furbabies to hang out with.

My kitty cat, Enzo, was a shelter cat, too. Got him when he was a kitten. He was a super popular kitten and lots of people had shown interest in adopting him. I got him by sheer luck of being the only one who was willing to foster him while he had a respiratory infection and needed daily medication. He took it like a champ, too. Never once complained when it was time to give him his oral syringe of antibiotics. :)

SERIOUSLY. I can’t help but wonder if this was a subconscious effort to force myself to keep the house cleaner.

Aww. I have a friend who volunteers at this shelter and has fostered before. I’m glad I’ve only ended up with one cat from knowing her (not that I wouldn’t want to help them all, but hoarding them isn’t really the solution!)

It’s really hard to tell when she’s asleep.

Could be. We seem to need reasons to get us to do certain things. Kitty is a good reason.

I know. She’s in my spare bedroom because she isn’t fond of my other cats. Which is sort of fine for the moment because I have to do some serious cleaning/un-Christmasing and find a new place to store my bikes. So what I’m really saying is, I got a new cat so I need a new garage. That works, right?

That is sound logic and I support it 100%

I cant walk into a cat shelter. I want to take home all of the older ones. I dont care that losing them would break my heart, I just want to give the little guys a taste of the good life and not die in a cage....

I don’t know how my friend can stand volunteering, but maybe it helps that she knows she’s doing more good that way. I’m proud I held off getting another cat for 5 years.

Misha is hilarious though, I need to make a video of her playing goalie when I throw her toys at the couch. She is amazingly good at defending against stuff she can’t see.
